Joseph (son of Jacob)
The character of Joseph in the book of Genesis was a son of Jacob and subsequently the founder of one of the twelve tribes of Israel, which later divides into the tribes Manasseh and Ephraim. Sold into slavery by his jealous half-brothers, he is notable for gaining favor with the pharaoh and for bringing Jacob's family into Egypt, where their descendants were later enslaved.
Apart from the Bible, there is no evidence of Joseph or his tribe in Egypt, their enslavement and eventual deliverance by Moses. Historians consider Joseph to be a mythological character. This shows that the Bible is not a reliable historical source.
Pyramids as grain stores[edit]
One theory is the Great Pyramids of Egypt were grain stores constructed at the time of Joseph to ensure enough food was available in a famine he predicted though dream interpretation Genesis 41 
. Expert archaeologists totally reject this theory, saying the pyramids were pharaonic tombs and do not have large storage areas.[1]
