Ray Comfort

Living Waters Ministries published an edition of The Origin of Species with an creationist introduction by Ray Comfort. The original book by Charles Darwin is a milestone in evolutionary science. Ray Comfort distributed free copies on US college campuses during November 2009 to evangelise his beliefs. [1] The new introduction contains significant misinformation and misunderstands the work it attempts to introduce. The first edition is an abridged work that omits chapters 10-13, Darwin's introduction, and the glossary of the original work. The second edition includes the missing chapters. [2]

Criticism of Ray Comfort's Introduction[edit]

Darwin biographer David Quammen wrote of this introduction:

Comfort's confused polemic, disguised as an informational Introduction but full of mistakes, half truths, untruths, muddled logic, old creationist arguments, misleadingly excerpted quotations, and ill-framed analogies — plus a good dose of fire and brimstone at the end — will do a severe disservice to anyone who takes it for an entryway to Darwin's great book.

In response to this stunt, the National Center for Science Education launched a Don't diss Darwin campaign, whose website includes an analysis of what Comfort's introduction got wrong. [3]
