Chondogyo, or Chendoism is a Korean religious movement, based on the 19th Donghak Confucian movement. Cheondoism has its origins in the peasant rebellions which arose starting in 1812 during the Joseon Dynasty.

Beliefs

Cheondoism is Confucian in origin, but it incorporates elements of Korean nationalism, Taoism and Buddhism. It places emphasis on personal cultivation, earthly social welfare, and rejects the belief of an afterlife.
