From Religions Wiki
For more information, see the Wikipedia article:
Journal of Discourses is a collection of public sermons by the early leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). It includes 1,438 sermons given by 55 church leaders, including Brigham Young, John Taylor, Orson Pratt, Heber C. Kimball, and George Q. Cannon.
It is not considered official scripture by the LDS church, but it is considered part of it's history
Interpretations of some of the journal's themes have and are currently under debate between many Mormons as well as non-Mormon and anti-Mormon groups. Some of the issues debated between these groups include blood atonement, the Adam-God theory, plural marriage, and the exclusionary Negro doctrine.
