Nontheism is a belief characterized by the absence or rejection of theism or any belief in a personal god or gods. It is an umbrella term for various movements such as agnosticism, ignosticism, skepticism, and atheism. It is in use in the fields of Christian apologetics and general liberal theology. Sometimes it is used interchangeably with the term atheism. It also can include beliefs in a deity who dos not interact with the universe in any way, such as deism, pantheism and transtheism.
